Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, has described the Isese Day celebration as a unifying platform for cultural preservation and religious inclusivity.
In congratulatory message, Wolekanle congratulated traditional religion worshippers across Oyo State on this year’s celebration and commended Governor Seyi Makinde for fulfilling the promise he made in February 2023 during the PDP campaign meeting with traditionalists by institutionalizing the holiday.
He noted that the recognition of Isese Day as a public holiday reflects Governor Makinde’s commitment to fairness, inclusiveness, and respect for all faiths. According to him, the gesture underscores the administration’s resolve to give equal recognition to every religion in the state.
The LGSC chairman also commended Hon Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Hon Wasiu Olatubosun and adherents of traditional religion for their role in preserving Yoruba culture and heritage.
He urged them to continue to use the festival to promote peace, tolerance, and unity, stressing that Oyo State, as the cradle of Yoruba civilization, must remain committed to celebrating its cultural values.
Wolekanle reaffirmed his support for government policies aimed at building an inclusive society where all religions are respected. He prayed for peace, prosperity, and continued progress in Oyo State, while congratulating traditionalists on yet another successful Isese Day celebration.
