International Agency Trains Electoral Officials on Election Processes in Oyo

International Foundation on Electoral System ( IFES)on Monday commences  3 day training for Senior Staff and Commissioners for Oyo state Independent Electoral Commission OYSIEC.

IFES is an international organization which supports citizens’ rights to participate in free and fair elections,
their independent expertise strengthens electoral systems and builds loocal capacity to deliver sustainable solutions.

The training is in part of preparation to equip electoral officials with adequate information and skills needed for the coming local government election scheduke to hold on May 12.

Speaking at the opening ceremony held at Owu Crown Hotel Ibadan, IFES Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist Obaje Ukeh said the organzation is partnering with OYSIEC to ensure proper conduct of election into Local Government and LCDAs in Oyo state

He said they target key stakeholders including those in charge of policy making for proper arrangement and planning of free credible and fair election

Ukeh said the organization which is funded by USAID  has been operating in Nigeria since 1998 and already in 135 countries

He however disclose the readiness of the Agency to give technical assistant to OYSIEC in all areas for effective operation during the election .

OYSIEC chairman Mr Jide Ajeigbe in his welcome remark admonish all participants to give maximum attention to the training so as to be kep abreast of of the modern trend organizing , planning and conducting a free, fair and credible elections .
