Inject More Resources To Develop Tourism, DAWN Commission DG Tells S’West Gov

The Director General, Development Agenda for Western Nigeria DAWN Commission Mr Seye Oyeleye has call on South West Governors to risk more resources in developing tourism potentials in the region.

Oyeleye said this while hosting Hon Akeem Ademola Ige, Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Culture and Tourism at DAWN’s secretariat in Ibadan on Wednesday

He frowned at the lackadaisical attitude of the government towards the transformation of tourism potentials into wealth creation and job security for the youth.

The DG also hinted  on the readiness of the he commission to assist the states with a developmental that that will help them in making meaning out of the untapped resource

“Already we have detailed information about tourism sites in each states and how they can be harness to generate income  we have even develop a tourism calendar which runs for  a whole year.

In his remark, Hon Akeem Ige commended the commission’s effort in Uniting the South West region with their activities especially on Amotekun and others

He also implored them to partner with Oyo state in developing tourism for job creations and additional source of income for the state

” Oyo state is endowed with a lot of potentials which are not being properly developed and used for economic development but Governor Makinde has given us a marching order to ensure steps are taken to embark on genuine development of some sites and monuments to attract tourists and business opportunities to the state

” Unlike immediate past administration, Gov Makinde will not put the state money into where it will not be use for the development of the people and the state at large ”

Ige was accompanied by Erelu Funmi Rotiba, state cordinator of Federation of Tourism Practitioner Association of Nigeria FTAN and others.
