The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the resumption of the third and final phase of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, scheduled to begin on Monday, May 11, 2026.

In a press statement issued on May 5, INEC disclosed that the exercise will run until Friday, July 10, 2026, providing another opportunity for eligible Nigerians to register ahead of future elections.

The Commission recalled that the second phase of the CVR was suspended on April 17, 2026, to enable a clean-up of the voters’ register following its publication for claims and objections.

INEC urged citizens who have attained the age of 18, as well as those who missed earlier registration phases, to take advantage of the final window to register.

The Commission also advised already registered voters seeking to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or correct personal details to either visit INEC offices in their states and local government areas or use its online portal.

As part of the process, INEC said the provisional voters’ register will be displayed for public scrutiny from July 23 to July 29, 2026, to allow for claims and objections aimed at ensuring the credibility of the register.

Reaffirming its readiness, the Commission assured Nigerians that adequate arrangements have been made for a seamless exercise, while calling on citizens to participate actively in strengthening the country’s electoral process in Nigeria.
