On Friday 16th April 2010,the firmament thickened eclipsing an evening Sun;there was a permanent halt on pulsation ,trepidation metamorphosed into reality . Expiration was confirmed on the ‘ engine room’ Prince Samuel Emiola Oyeleye had joined the triumphant Saints .
His sole wife, children, family, friends and colleagues were enveloped with immediate reality of the transition of a man whose frame represented completeness, openness, frankness and jolliness with several questions passing through minds. Former Miss Ronke Olagunju Ojo was with us at the hospital where he was pronounced dead, another friend that showed immediately was Dr. Ismail Adeyemo fondly addressed as ‘Busta’ to offer instant succour and informed necessary University Authorities to move the deceased from Bowen’s morgue to LAUTECH Anatomy mortuary being a pioneer Staff and Senior University Administrator.
Prior his brief illness and eventual transition the city of Ogbomoso had cried and prayed for rainfall but as soon as Dr. Atansy pronounced him expired ,a thick cloud formed and there was a heavy downpour which reinforced my convincing belief and deep impression in one of the Shakespearean Series’ Julius caesar, Ceasar who rose to power in ancient Rome ,a General that used his many victories on the battlefield to build his power base and won over many of his rivals through diplomacy and passion -the wife Calpurnia in her grieving moment and tragic remark intoned ” when beggars die there are no comets seen ;heaven themselves blaze forth the death of Princes” .
Of course Prince Samuel Emiola was Oyeleye was a multi-layered and multifarious Man, Father, Brother, Uncle, Friend, Colleague and Benefactor to every category.
He was a remarkable portrait of life to everyone he met while sojourning on this terrestrial platform. This is our raison detre for celebrating this larger than life kind of being 10 Years after his eternal transition, while we are eulogizing the way-Maker, covenant-keeper and Light-in-the -darkness for keeping, protecting and expanding our horizons after the death our of ‘ earthly hope and breadwinner, again for making us to be descendants of such a good and great Man that dedicated his life to truth, honesty, human development, piety and selfless service to humanity. He was able to achieve so much within a relatively short time.
His name continues to reverberate, ricochet and paveway for us having paid his due to humanity and ensure our self-sustenance through education and lofty characters he imbued in us ,he believed and preached to all as an antidote to every form of slavery including poverty.
We converge to celebrate you today for you were a great being even in death the light you left behind is still shinning on our paths to the delight of admirers and devastation of foes.
We are eternally grateful to some of our families and friends again prominent among them are our Baba Professor Anthony Bamidele Afolabi he ensured everything went well at our grieving moment,Chief Mrs Victoria Mosunmola Olojede a great epitome and perfect embodiment of womanhood, she has continued to take good care of us and follow us everywhere we go, Professor Akande who was the Head, Food Science and Engineering Department as at the time of his demise and host of others we say God bless and keep you.
