Sanusi, it would be recalled, had delivered not only his polling unit but his local government of Ona Ara to Governor ‘Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Makinde’s last minutes’ reconciliation with Sanusi was one of the things he needed to recording a landslide across the state.
Ilaji, as Dotun has become to be popularly known, has become a force to be reckoned with as his philanthropic gesture within and outside Ibadan has made him a go-to person for people, especially politician.
Speaking on the rationale behind the victory party, Sanusi, who has been receiving visitors in his resorts for Makinde’s reelection, said it was to thank everyone who, in anyway or the other, contributed to the victory.
”These people just love it and I must not take it for granted. I called them just few hours after we decided and they answered. Remember this was how they did for us when we were mobilising for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. And I told them then that we were not doing it for money. They did it with their hearts. Again, for Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, they didn’t question me when I told them. I am grateful for the kind of love they have shown me. I won’t take it for granted,” he added.
It would be recalled that Makinde, few days to the election, had parleyed Sanusi in order to mobilize support for him. PDP led with over 11,816 votes in Ona-Ara where the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, hails from.
