The Ibadan Christ Apostolic Grammar School Old Students Association (ICAGSOBA) on Thursday 28th September 2023, held the Annual ICAGSOBA National Prize Giving Day where more than 80 students were rewarded with cash prizes and scholarship.
The overall best student in the 2023 WAEC was awarded a laptop worth six hundred thousand naira while other best performers got cash prizes and more than thirty students got WAEC 2024 sponsorship.
President of the old students association, Dr. Morohunkola in his remarks started that the Association is providing support to the school so as to bring back the good old days.
He noted that since 2020, when the present National Executive Council of the Association was put in place, the body has been committed to bringing back the lost glory of the school in academics, and moral upbringing and one of the step to actualize that goal is to resuscitate the prize giving day which is meant to promote healthy competition amongst the students.
He appreciated all members of the association at home and abroad for thier continuous support towards the academic upliftment of the students.
Dr. Thomas disclosed at the event that a skill acquisiition center will be established in the school to create entrepreneural skills that the students will benefit from in the nearest future.
In his remarks the Chairman of the occasion, CP Fatai Owoseni Rtd advice the students against cultism as it has negative impacts on the society. He called on parents too to pay attention to thier children as parents have a lot to do.
In attendance where past Presidents of the Association, set leaders and parents of the Awardees. The school Principals, teachers and non teaching staffs were also rewarded for thier performance.
The old Students Association annually from 2022 started organizing the Prize Giving Day event to recognize best performing students and to encourage academic excellence. Over 3 million naira worth of prizes were distributed.
