Some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Ibarapa Central Local Government today staged a peaceful protest against the nomination of Mr Seun Fakorede as commissioner from the state .
The 27 year old graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University of Ife is billed to be screened by Oyo State House of Assembly today
Protesters which storms the Assembly complex main gate carried placard with various inscriptions which reads ” Ibarapa North PDP Rejects nomination of commissioner nominee Seun Fakorede” “GSM These people are the Architect of Rerun election in ibarapa” and others
Samuel Adigun Olawuwo who led the protesters while speaking with journalists alleged that the nominee is a member of the opposition party, the APC in the council
“He is not a member of our party, his father Olusola fakorede and Dr Sola Ayandele worked against the party during the election, so we cannot allow an opposition member to represent us at the state executive council”.
Olawuwo said futher that the governor is free to chose whowever he want in Ibarapa but that person should not be a member of the opposition party.
In a similar development, some student and youths from the area, also staged a counter protest against that of the Peoples Democratic Party members.
The students who also carried a banner with contents in support of Fakorede said they are happy with his choice, just as they lauded Governor Makinde for nominating him
Mr Sola Fakorede father of the nominee while reacting to the allegation said he was a foundational members of the PDP and a staunch supporter of Engineer Seyi Makinde. Those who came to protest are only here to show the stuff they were made off, I was the Vice chairman and party chairman for8years in Ibarapa central, I was aggrieved and left but later returned to the party, the claims that I worked against the party is nothing but a lie”
