An HND1 student of the Mass Communication Department, Owolabi Toheeb in an interview with Kehinde Ayanboade of National Insight claimed the school is ready to resume adding that the usage of face masks should be enforced in all premises of the school.

“The school is ready to resume, as we can see, some students are complying with the preventive measures. The school should ensure students go in-line with the directives to further prevent us (student) from the virus.

Another problem is that all commercial workers, traders and good sellers are not complying with the measures, they are not using face masks. They should be oriented, Lecturers and other members of Staff are honestly doing well as we can all see their readiness.” Owolabi said.

Bolaji also expressed his dissatisfaction towards the attitude of most students who would wear nose mask before entering the school and remove it when allowed in.

“Students should be well cautioned and oriented on the benefit of using nose masks, it is very important. Most of us (students) will use it before entering and keep it in our bags when we enter the campus, it is very wrong.

“Also face masks are not meant to be pull down to our chin, we should cultivate the habit of putting it on every time to lower the risk of contracting the virus.”

An HND2 student of the Mass Communication Department, Owoyemi Olumide in his reaction to school resumption call on the school management to give more interval between the time of resumption and exam.

“The School should kindly temper mercy and give more time between the date of resumption and exam, many of the students have forgotten most of the topics, some of them have ventured into trade and other business.

“School should give us more time to brush up and revise the topics we treated during online classes so we can perform excellently in our exams.”

An HND2 Student or Business Administration, Oladapo Agunlofi in his comment called on the school to provide soap, water, and sanitizers in all departments, lecture theaters and school premises.

“Each class should be provided with soap, water and sanitizers at the school gate, departments, all lecture theatres and the Hostels.

“The school has really done well and I can see they are prepared for resumption, we commend the school for this. We students are ready too and we can’t wait to start receiving lectures as we pray Corona Virus move out of this school soon”.

A lecturer of the Mass Communication Department, Mr. Adeyemi Adedokun also disclosed that all pending results have been resolved and all the results have been made available so has to smoothen the process of resumption after the initial school calendar was abridged since over six months due to the Coronavirus disease.

Students of The Polytechnic, Ibadan performed a little above average (70%) in compliance to the said preventive measures as recommended by the Nigeria Centre for Diseases Control (NCDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). Some of them were seen not wearing their face masks properly though the school management ordered that nobody should be allowed into the school without their face masks.

We further gathered that water, and soap are provided at the school gates, all the four (4) hostels including the Unity Hall and Orisun Hall for male students and the Ramat and Olori Hall of Residence for females so students can wash their hand before moving into the campus.
