A former Governor of Oyo State Otunba Adebayo Also Akala has said his administration contributed immensely to the development of the State owned broadcasting outfit – B.C.O.S. as he provided it with state of the art equipment, enhanced training of its staff as well s renovated the studios and extended this development to all the sub-stations of the broadcasting outfit namely:-
Ajilete in Ogbomoso, Oke-Ogun F.M. and also the F.M. Station at Old Ife Road.
Otunba Alao-Akala, in a statement by one of his aides, Prince Tunde Oloyede, said it is rather sad and unfortunate that the incumbent Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde was misinformed and misguided to say that the BCOS never witnessed any development since the exit of his (Alao-Akala’s) immediate predecessor.
According to Alao-Akala, the present Chairman of the BCOS Prince Dotun Oyelade “served under me as my Special Adviser on Media Affairs and he is very much aware and fully apprised of all my contributions to the growth and development of the BCOS with the provision of modern facilities. It is therefore unfathomable that the Chairman could not present the true picture of my contributions as I deployed enormous resources to revive the then ailing BCOS which was rescued by my administration, adding that the staffers could also testify to this awesome contributions.
Governor Makinde had, at the Commissioning of the Sattelite Audio Network of the BCOS at Old Ife Road, insinuated that Alao-Akala never contributed to the development of BCOS when he stated that the BCOS last witnessed development twelve years ago when Akala’s immediate predecessor was in office.
For the avoidance of doubt, BCOS , during the administration of Alao Akala who appointed Prince Atilade Atoyebi, a Veteran broadcaster, seasoned administrator and very experienced personality in broadcasting industry, undertook the development of projects which include:- procurement of an (OB)Outside Broadcasting Van, vehicles for assignments, completed the long abandoned permanent structure of Oluyole FM at Old Ife Road; The establishment of Oke-Ogun and Ajilete FM Stations; changed the radio and TV signals from analog to Digital High definition; procured and installed the hi-tech cooling system for sensitive equipment for the Station; changed all the ENG Cameras from UHS (M3000. M35000) to DV cameras, amongst other significant milestone development.
Much as every sitting administration has a right to develop state owned institutions using its discretion, it is absurd and inconceivable and indeed uncharitable to deny past ones of their own efforts at making their own contributions.
It added that the State belongs to all and everyone has his/her part to play which must be acknowledged. Such actors should have the deserved honour and respect for their contributions.
The Statement therefore enjoined all public officers and political appointees of the Governor to always apprise him of the true and correct state of affairs of institutions under their supervision so as to avoid any public embarrassment.
