Prof Francis Otunta, the Immediate  Past Vice Chancellor Of Michael Okpara University  of Agriculture, Umudike Umuahia is dead

Otunta’s live was claimed in a ghastly motor accident on his way to Enugu on Tuesday barely a month after he end his tenure as the fifth Vice-Chancellor of the  University in February.

He hails from  Nkpoghoro, in Afikpo North local government area of Ebonyi state

Prior to his appointment as 5th Vice-Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Otunta had previously worked as a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Benin. He was also a former Rector of Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana

Professor Otunta during his tenure as VC was  accused of sexually Harassing a Doctor Patricia Mbah but was cleared by the school authority.

As a returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He  announced the final results of the Imo governorship election in Owerri that declared Emeka Ihedioha of the PDP winner of the election.

Michael Okpara University Of Agriculture, Umudike and it environs are deeply sad over the deceased of their former Vice – Chancellor
