Hon. Olaminuwonlo Ayodeji Alao Akala, Chairman of the Young Parliamentarians Forum, has emphasized the need for increased youth participation in governance and legislative reforms to remove financial barriers hindering young Nigerians from active politics.
Speaking as a guest on Political Paradigm, a Channels Television program hosted by Terry Ikumi, The House of Reps member discussed the challenges young people face in politics, including high costs of participation, and called for strategic reforms to make governance more inclusive.
The All Progressive Congress APC lawmaker representing Ogbomoso North South and Oriire Federal Constituency highlighted his contributions in championing bills and motions that directly impact Nigerians, as well as his efforts in constituency engagements and developmental projects.
Hon. Akala also commended the leadership of the House of Representatives under Speaker Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abass, PhD, GCON, for promoting legislative advocacy and fostering engagements that empower the youth.
“As Chairman of this pioneering committee, I am honored to lead Nigeria’s young parliamentarians. By pushing for progressive legislation and amplifying youth voices in governance, we remain committed to ensuring that Nigerian youths are not just participants but key decision-makers in our democracy,” he said.
Hon. Akala reiterated his commitment to advocating policies that will strengthen youth involvement in governance, ensuring a more inclusive political landscape for the next generation of leaders.
