Hon. (Engr.) Dr. Aderemi Oseni, Chairman of the House Committee on Federal Road Maintenance Agency and Member representing Ido/Ibarapa Federal Constituency, has called on Oyo State students to pursue excellence and cultivate qualities that distinguish them in society. He stressed the importance of knowledge, readiness, and strategic engagement with governments at all levels to drive meaningful change.
Hon. Oseni made the call through his representative, Comrade Adegbola Oluwaseun “Triple Tee,” a youth advocate, at the 3rd FIBSA Parliamentary Summit themed “Civil Engagement: Amplifying Students’ Voices in Legislative Processes.” He highlighted the pivotal role Nigerian students have historically played in shaping the nation’s progress and enhancing global competitiveness.
He noted that student voices are instrumental in fostering innovation and improving governance, stating, “Their participation in legislative and civic matters has the potential to increase policy efficiency by 24%.”
Hon. Oseni also encouraged students to leverage their numbers to influence the nation’s trajectory positively. Sharing his contributions to education this year, he revealed that he had funded WAEC fees for 400 students, sponsored JAMB registrations for 700 others, and awarded bursaries to tertiary education students across Ido/Ibarapa East.
As part of his commitment to student empowerment, Hon. Oseni announced the upcoming launch of the Remi Oseni Tertiary Scholarship/Empowerment Programme (ROTSEP). This initiative aims to support Oyo students in their academic and personal development journeys.
Reaffirming his dedication to student welfare, Hon. Oseni pledged to remain a staunch advocate for their interests, urging them to rise to the challenge of excellence and relevance in all spheres of life.
