The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Ajibola Basiru, has called on Muslims to intensify prayers for global peace and a more prosperous Nigeria.
Dr. Basiru made the call in a message commemorating the commencement of the new Islamic calendar year, 1447 Hijrah.
“I join billions of Muslims around the world in celebrating the beginning of the Islamic New Year, 1447 Hijrah. The lessons of Hijrah must resonate with us deeply—it is a symbol of resilience in the face of adversity and a call to abandon vices and embrace virtues,” he said.
He urged both Muslims and non-Muslims to set aside political differences and unite in prayers, particularly against the scourge of insecurity plaguing the nation.
“We must not continue to dance naked on the graves of innocent Nigerians, nor trample on their spilled blood in pursuit of power. This sacred period should be a time to seek Allah’s mercy and guidance. Nigeria is the only home we have.”
Dr. Basiru also encouraged Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with prayers and goodwill.
“The policies being implemented, though initially painful, are designed to reposition our country for lasting progress. With patience and collective resolve, Nigeria will rise higher in global development rankings.”
