In appreciation of their contributions to the medical and health industry, the Centre for Drug Discovery, Development and Production (CDDDP), Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ibadan will today honour some eminent personalities including the Former Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko; the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa; the Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Michael Adeyemo; the Director General of National Institute of Science Laboratory Technology, Gbdaegeshin Yemi Hezekiah.

Other distinguished personalities to be awarded at the event include; The Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole for his contributions toward improving maternal and child health in Nigeria; Engr Aderemi Olaniyan for his philanthropic efforts in the area of health; Wife of Oyo State Governor, Mrs Florence Ajimobi for her effort in providing easy access to basic medical care through ABC Foundation as well as the Committee Chairman on Health in the Senate, Senator Olanrewaju Tejuosho who will be awarded for his contribution towards reducing counterfeit medicine in Nigeria.

The conference, which will hold on Tuesday, 29th August and Wednesday August 30th, 2017, will feature stakeholders engaging in a discourse on the topic: Critical Appraisal of Regulations Guiding Access to Quality Medicines in Africa, on Day One of the Programme, while the topic:Strategies for Improving Access to Quality Medicines in West Africa will be discussed on the second day of the event.

The CDDDP Programme Director, Professor Chinedum Peace Babalola confirmed to CEOAfrica that the Acting Director General of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Mrs Yetunde Oni will be delivering the keynote address at the conference. She also noted that lawmakers and stakeholders in the medical field will be present at the programme. Interested participants are invited to register online atwww.cdddp.ui.edu.ng

She further stated that the audience the conference is targeted at include; professionals in the Pharmaceutical Industry, Community Pharmacists, Hospital Pharmacists, NDLEA, WHO, USAID, UN, UNIDO, Healthcare Providers, Medical Practitioners, Academia, Federal and State Lawmakers, Pharmaceutical Importers, Regulatory Agencies, PMG-MAN, NAIP, APIN, Print and Electronic Media.
The Centre for Drug Discovery, Development and Production (CDDDP) was strategically established as a platform for training, research and development in the area of drug discovery, development and production (DDDP) to meet the needs of Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa.
The upcoming international conference is supported by MacArthur Foundation, NEPAD, NAFDAC and the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria.
