A social political group in Ibadan under the aegis of the “Focus ” has ranked the Senate President, Senator Abubakar Bukola saraki, as the only trump card the People’s Democratic Party, PDP could lay on the table in its presidential political power game.
In his address to other stakeholders during the group meeting at Premier Hotel on Sunday, the Focus state coordinator ,Comrade Aypkunle Oladapo, lauded the decision of the Senate president to put his hat on the ring for presidency as the most rational and well thought -out. . He said ” At this defining moment, when the nation’s ship is dangerously heading towards the rapids, Nigeria deserves a leader with superior intellect to pilot the state’s Ship to the promised land. Nigeria is tired and sorely bored with the vacuous rhetoric of change without concomitant action – a tool of deceit employed by the present administration to snooker the populace. For how long are we going to live in denial? ”
Comrade Ayokunle Oladapo however eulogised Senator Bukola saraki who he described as the ” man who is in charge” and the only person who is most eminently qualified among those vying for the ticket for presidency under the PDP judged by his Sterling track record and unquestioned wealth of political experience .
He stated further ” The camp of PDP is star -studded no doubt, but among the best first eleven ,a captain must emerge. Senator Saraki’s is the most youth- friendly who is endowed with transferable skills to hasten the pace of development in Nigeria . He is open to change and have shown irrevocable commitment to growing Nigeria project “, Oladapo said.
The Focus coordinator also chose the occasion to enjoin the PDP National working Commitee to perish any thought of micro -selecting the party flagbearer based on zonal considerations or any other primordial sentiments. His words ” Nigerians are desirous of change in its leadership from the present Corp of meal mouthed leaders ruling with promises that have never been translated to a stark reality , hence, people are impatiently waiting on PDP to offer better alternative, with less regards to the zone it’s candidate comes from, but more emphasis on inherent ability, capacity and capability of whoever the lot falls on to take the nation back on the right tack. . It’s groundless to be talking of zoning in a precarious moment like this when teeming populace are suffering blustery economic weather ”
Comrade Oladapo therefore gave an assurance that if PDP fields Senator Bukola saraki as its candidate, the path to coasting home victory will be paved with gold as the Youth in their millions will gleefully file behind the Senate President in whom they have reposed unshaken confidence and trust.
The Focus therefore flayed those canvassing for Zoning of the PDP presidency to the North West, saying “they are people who are bent on proffering yesterday’s solution to address today’s problems. ” The party must move on by providing a level playing ground for the best candidate to emerge “. He advised.
