Senator Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi, representing Oyo South Senatorial District in the Senate, has emerged winner of the third edition of the Yoruba Man of the Year award.
The yearly event, packaged by Omoluabi Leadership Reporters, is scheduled to hold on Sunday, February 26, 2017, at the University of Ibadan International Conference Centre.
According to the award governing board, under the chairmanship of Professor David Adeyemo, the Yoruba-man-of-the-year award is a distinguished award reserved for prominent sons of the Yoruba race, who have, through life accomplishments, portrayed and extolled the virtues and values of true sons of the race.
Speaking on the selection methodology, the project coordinator, Adekunle Ayegbe, in a press statement made available to the Nigerian Tribune, said “the selection panel for this prestigious award comprises of well-meaning professionals drawn from all walks of life, who objectively considered the nominees through a fair and transparent process”.
According to Ayegbe, “Senator Akanbi’s public spirited standpoint in the National Assembly, his public and private comportments which typified the ethos of Omoluabi (well behaved Yoruba son) and more recently, his continuous and unparalled humanitarian service through RAAF Foundation, were all painstakingly considered”.
