The Reformist,a group within the All Progressive Congress APC has reacted to an online publication that Oyo state former first Lady, Chief Mrs Florence Ajimobi and other stakeholders within the party are working to thwart the aspiration of a particular aspirant for the state chairmanship position of the party.
It described the allegation as baseless and without merit that should be speedily discarded by all well meaning members and stakeholders of our party.
It also described the publication as a grueling effect of junk journalism promoted by political irredentist and divisive elements within the APC to promote an agenda of ruin and fan further the ember of discord in a house that is just gradually settling down. It is uncharitable for anyone or group to commodify the private visit of her excellency to former leaders of government in the state and hurriedly label the same as working to bring down anybody.
The group described the editorial as a huge setback to press freedom because it fails the basic test of journalistic integrity and competence as it does not strive for truthfulness. It opined that the former first Lady is working for the growth and balance of the party and only committed to helping the party return to political power in the state. It therefore calls out the purported editorial as baseless, empty and unintelligent and the handy work of some politically drained renegades within the party who ignorantly assumed an attack on the former first Lady will help them rejig their dying political stake in the state.
Chief Mrs Florence Ajimobi is not a member of the state working committee of the party neither was she a member of the party zoning committee. All aspirants to the position of the state Party chairman of our party are well known to her and will be pleased to work with whoever emerges at the end of Saturday 30th October, 2021 state congress.
The group therefore cautioned all mischief makers and naysayers hidden under whatever nomenclature to desist from all divisive agenda and work for the party victory in the coming elections. A word is enough for the wise.
