Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening security across the state with the distribution of 50 high-grade operational vehicles to various security agencies.
The handover ceremony, held on Wednesday at the Government House grounds in Akure, marked a major highlight of activities commemorating the Governor’s first 100 days in office.
Speaking at the event, Governor Aiyedatiwa described the initiative as a critical step in enhancing the capacity of security agencies to effectively respond to threats and maintain public safety.
“This event underscores our administration’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the effectiveness, efficiency, and capacity of our security agencies to respond to any security alert or acts of criminality in the state,” the Governor stated.
He emphasized that the distribution of Toyota Hilux vehicles was not just a constitutional responsibility, but also a gesture of appreciation for the sacrifices of security personnel.
“Providing operational tools to our security operatives is a clear demonstration of our resolve to build a safer, more secure Ondo State,” he said.
Governor Aiyedatiwa also highlighted the importance of synergy among security stakeholders, noting that collaboration remains central to the state’s security strategy under his development blueprint, OUR EASE, which prioritizes citizen safety.
He recalled that in July 2024, the state government had distributed 25 Toyota Hilux vehicles to security agencies, describing the latest gesture as a continuation of efforts to bolster the state’s security infrastructure.
In his welcome address, Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, reiterated the administration’s strong stance on security. He praised Governor Aiyedatiwa for fostering cooperation among security agencies and underscored the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order.
Dr. Fasoranti also referenced several life-impacting projects executed in the Governor’s first 100 days, calling on citizens to support the administration’s vision for a safer and more prosperous Ondo State.
Speaking on behalf of all security agencies, Brigadier General Justin Ifeanyi, Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, assured that the vehicles would be effectively utilized and well-maintained. Similarly, Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, lauded the state government for easing mobility challenges and boosting the Corps’ operational efficiency.
Also present was the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, who hailed the move as a “giant stride” in addressing long-standing complaints about limited mobility among security operatives.
Delivering the vote of thanks, Deputy Commissioner of Police Oluseyi Okenla, who represented the Commissioner of Police, expressed deep appreciation to the Governor for his continued support and proactive approach to security matters.
The event was attended by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami; Chief of Staff, Prince Segun Omojuwa; Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philip; members of the Ondo State House of Assembly; State Executive Council members; political appointees; heads of security agencies; and other top government functionaries.
