The head of Gambia’s army has given his full backing to the country’s president, Yahya Jammeh, amid a deepening political crisis.
In a letter to the pro-government newspaper, Gen Ousman Badjie pledged the “unflinching loyalty and support of the Gambia Armed Forces” to Mr Jammeh.
Meanwhile the president elect Adama Barrow has debunked the rumour of his death saying he is alive
Barrow was reported to have been killed yesterday by some armed assassins,
a tweet from an unknown destination reads ‘ we would like to inform you that the president elect is alive and well”.
