FUOYE Staff Protest Over Unpaid Salaries, Allowances

Academic and economic activities was paralyzed on Monday  at the Federal University Oye, (FUOYE) as workers stage a peaceful protests over their unpaid salaries and other entitlements.

The protest also stalled the orientation programme earlier scheduled today for the new students as both workers and visitors particularly parents and guardians of the new intake met the gate locked

Some of their allegations included  : non-promotion of staff as and when due, improper  placement of staff in their areas of specialization, illegal  ICT deduction,  perpetration of illegal employment, non-remittance of unions’ check off dues, withholding of Hazard Allowance, Arbitrary award of contracts, Victimization of Staff, among others.

The protest which started around 8;am in the morning  later spilled to the heart of  town , where the placard-carrying staff had chanted  various songs to chide the Vice Chancellor, and threatening  to make the university ungovernable if their demands are not met.

 

Some of Academic staff who forced their way into institution were harassed and branding as betrayers
