The Osun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has secured the conviction of 33 traffic offenders during a Mobile Court sitting held in Ile-Ife on Friday, December 19, 2025.
The Mobile Court, presided over by Magistrate Ayokunle Siyanbola of the Osun State Judiciary, was part of the Command’s ongoing efforts to curb traffic violations that often lead to road crashes and loss of lives across the state.
The exercise was conducted in line with the schedule for Mobile Court operations under the 2025 Operation Zero Tolerance Special Patrols, a nationwide initiative running from December 15, 2025, to January 15, 2026.
Officers and marshals of the FRSC, drawn from the Ife Unit Command, carried out the operation in collaboration with four armed police officers and two armed operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). The operation lasted for about four hours.
A total of 34 traffic offenders were arraigned before the court for 71 different traffic-related offences, with the Sector Legal Officer, CRC Joshua Onalo, appearing as the prosecuting counsel.
Out of the offenders prosecuted, 33 were convicted and paid fines, while one offender was discharged and acquitted at the discretion of the court.
The Command noted that 11 cases of Route Violation (RTV), identified as a common offence and a major cause of road crashes within the jurisdiction, were recorded during the operation. In addition, 12 cases of Dangerous Driving were booked, underscoring the dangers of driving against the normal flow of traffic and the risks such actions pose to other road users.
The operation also led to the arrest of 14 overloaded vehicles.
According to the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Leye Adegboyega, fsi, the outcome of the Mobile Court sitting serves as a strong message to motorists to obey traffic regulations and desist from unsafe driving habits that endanger lives.
He assured that the Command would continue to intensify enforcement activities within and beyond the period of the Operation Zero Tolerance Special Patrols to ensure safer roads and peaceful celebrations for Nigerians.
