Fried-Fish Drama: Oyo APM Campaign Faults Alli, Projects Adekanmbi as Grassroots Candidate

The Allied People’s Movement (APM) Governorship Campaign Council in Oyo State has criticised Senator Sharafadeen Alli over his recent roadside fried-fish outing, describing it as political theatrics aimed at projecting a false image of humility.

The campaign council said Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, the party’s governorship candidate, represented a more authentic approach to grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

In a press release dated October 13, 2026, and signed by Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Co-Director (Media and Publicity) of the Oyo State APM Governorship Campaign Council, the party alleged that Alli’s outing was an attempt to manufacture humility for political gain.

The council argued that genuine leadership should be demonstrated through consistent engagement, sincerity and service to the people rather than public appearances designed to attract attention.

It also accused the senator’s associates of attempting to influence citizens through financial inducements, describing the alleged practice as a sign of desperation.

The APM campaign council maintained that voters in Oyo State had become more politically conscious and would not be swayed by what it described as staged displays or inducements.

Contrasting Alli’s approach with that of its candidate, the council described Adekanmbi as a humble leader who engages communities, listens to their concerns and builds relationships through consistent interaction.

According to the statement, Adekanmbi’s grassroots engagement reflects his character rather than a strategy designed for political publicity.

The campaign council urged Alli to focus on presenting his policy proposals, vision and solutions to the challenges facing Oyo State instead of engaging in activities it described as political distractions.

It said the electorate deserved candidates who could demonstrate clear plans, purposeful leadership and a commitment to development.

The council further expressed confidence in Adekanmbi’s candidacy, claiming that his approach to leadership had earned him the preference of the people.

The statement comes amid growing political activities and positioning ahead of the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.
