Former Nigerian Diplomat, Ejeviome Otobo Found Dead in Tuckahoe

Ejeviome Eloho Otobo a former Nigerian Ambassador who was declared missing by Tuckahoe Police department New York,last week has been found dead

Otobo who retired as a career diplomat from Nigeria died at the age of 70

He was last seen/heard from on June 15th, 2022 in the area of Dante Avenue, wearing a blue long sleeve sweatshirt.

The Tuckahoe Police Department while announcing the development said they regrets to inform members of the community that Mr. Ejeviome Otobo was located yesterday afternoon and is deceased.

“We would like to thank those of you who offered tips and tried to assist with the investigation. Our thoughts go out to the Otobo Family during this difficult time.”

Otobo rose to become the director and deputy head of the UN Peacebuilding Support Office (PBSO) at the United Nations Headquarters, New York from 2009-2014, where he also acted as Assistant Secretary-General from February-August 2009.

Untill his death he was a collaborator with Grace Initiative and Non-Resident Senior Expert in Peacebuilding and Global Economic Policy at the Global Governance Institute, Brussels, Belgium

a. Mr. Otobo had previously held the position of At PBSO, he led the Office’s efforts in assisting the United Nations Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) to develop peacebuilding strategies, including supporting governance reforms and reconciliation processes, for countries on the agenda of the PBC. Before joining the PBSO, he served in various department of the UN. Mr. Otobo joined the United Nations after a distinguished career in the diplomatic service of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
