FG Approves Fund for Completion of Oyo-Ogbomoso Road

The Federal Executive Council  today Approved the Revised Estimated Total Cost RETC  for the completion of the ongoing  Oyo-Ogbomoso Road

The road which was awarded  in February 2001 by  the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo was supposed to be deliver by 2004

The project was divided into three sections. Section I, which is approximately 44.5 kilometres, commences at Ojoo in Ibadan and ends at Irepo Market in Oyo. Section II starts from Oyo and stops at Ogbomoso, while Section III is from Ogbomoso to Gerin-Alimi Roundabout in Ilorin.

But the Oyo-Ogbomoso axis is still dragging due to lack of fund

Several effort have been made by the people of Ogbomoso and Oyo town , Federal lawmakers including Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, Senator Monsurat Summonu, and others to ensure the completion of the road

Minister of Youth and Sport development Mr Sunday Dare  tweeted few mins ago that the RETC have  been approved

“Today, FEC approved the Revised Estimated Total Cost, RETC, for the completion of the Oyo-Ogbomoso road. The inherited contract was started 10 years ago and has become a death trap killing many of our students .Many thanks to President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the funds”

Senator Buhari  Abdulfatai , lawmaker representing Oyo North Senatorial district has described the approval as a good development

Buhari who spoke through his media office on the development commended the president for the approval, ” We have been on this for  some time now and thank God the fund has been approved , very soon the project will be completed and the rate of carnage on the old road will be reduced
