Former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, will today deliver the convocation lecture at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, as part of activities marking the institution’s 39th convocation ceremony.
The lecture, scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at the North Campus Assembly Hall, will be chaired by the Rector, Dr. Taiwo Abideen Lasisi.
Titled “Emerging Technological Advancements, National Development, and Growth in the 21st Century: Repositioning Nigerian Polytechnics,” the lecture will examine the impact of technological advancements on national development and explore strategies to reposition Nigerian polytechnics in the evolving global economy. Dignitaries from various sectors, particularly those involved in polytechnic education, are expected to attend.
The convocation ceremony itself will take place on Friday, February 14, at the 1,000-seater hall along the North/South Campus Road, with Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, as the special guest of honor. The event will feature the conferment of diplomas, certificates, and degrees on graduates from different faculties.
The Polytechnic, Ibadan, has assured attendees of adequate security arrangements and has encouraged past graduates to collect their certificates, noting that thousands remain unclaimed. Graduates will be able to collect their certificates immediately after the ceremony.
