Former National Vice President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Zone B and former Secretary of the Oyo State NUJ, Cosmos Oni, has been conferred with the prestigious chieftaincy title of Balogun Baale Aba Oni in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The event, held on Saturday at Aba Oni, was in recognition of his contributions to community development and journalism.
Dignitaries from the media and traditional institutions graced the occasion, including Oyo State NUJ Chairman, Chief Demola Babalola. Other notable attendees were veteran journalist Bola Ogunlayi, media strategist Godwin Ngwu, a member of the Eze-in-Council in Oyo State, and Remi Oladoye, publisher of National Insight, among others.
The ceremony featured traditional rites and celebrations, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Aba Oni community.
In his remarks, Oni expressed gratitude to the Baale and the Ido Traditional Council for the honor, pledging to leverage his influence and experience to contribute to the advancement of the community, Ibadan, and Oyo State at large.
