The Ekiti State Local government election on Saturday witnessed a low and high turnout of voters in some of the local government areas in the state

Accreditation and voting took place simultaneously in all the Local Government Areas visited as voters, candidates and party agents expressed satisfaction with the electoral process.

As at the time of this report, collation of result is ongoing at the headquarters of the state Independent Electoral Commission in Ado Ekiti, while the declaration of result is to follow.

There was a mild compliance with the restriction of movement order as the streets of Ado Ekiti and its environs were not completely free from vehicular movement.

In some of the polling, units visited across the state, there was a low turnout of voters in some areas while it was high in some areas, particularly in the wards of some candidates.

Observers also confirmed that the voting exercise across the state was peaceful.

 

About five political parties took part in the election, excluding the main opposition party APC.

The chairman of the state independent electoral commission justice Kayode Bamisile e expressed satisfaction with the conduct of voters.

Collation of results for the local govt. poll is ongoing, while the results for the winners of the chairmanship and councillorship posts is expected to be announced tomorrow
