A sociopolitical group, Ekiti Rescue Team (ERT), has commended the choice of Chief Bisi Egbeyemi as the running mate to Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate for the July 14th election in Ekiti State.
The group, which is concerned about having credible and progressive-minded persons at the helms of affairs in Ekiti State and Nigeria at large, said in a statement signed by its Director of Media and Publicity, Femi Adewumi, in Ekiti on Thursday that Chief Egbeyemi’s choice further reinforced the party’s determination to effect the change which the good people of Ekiti have for long clamoured for.
While condemning those deriding the nomination of Chief Egbeyemi as Fayemi’s running mate, the group described him as decent, reasonable, sensible, reliable, responsible and intellectually sound person.
The group added: “Chief Egbeyemi is a renowned teacher, legal expert, administrator and a reform-minded technocrat, who embodies the virtues of honesty, integrity, selflessness and dedication to the overall good of the society, hence he remaines a strategic partner to Dr. Fayemi in the task of rescuing Ekiti State from hands of the devourers, and set the state on the fast lane of development.
“The choice of Egbeyemi, a community developer and respected politician, is also leaving us much stronger for the task ahead.
“We commend Dr. Fayemi and other party leaders for arriving at a choice that is bound to strengthen our ticket and ensure success and unprecedented development for Ekiti State.”
The group added that regardless of what sceptics are saying, the Ekiti APC was set to run an issue-based campaign and carry along every segment of the society in the electoral process that would culminate in APC emerging victorious at the July 14th governorship election.
“No doubt, the choice of Dr. Fayemi as gubernatorial candidate and Chief Egbeyemi as running mate has re-defined the 2018 contest and become a concern to the ruling party,” the group added.
The group then urged the good people of Ekiti to support the APC in bringing about the change which Ekiti and its people so urgently need, by voting massively for the party at the coming polls.
“It is high time we rescued Ekiti State from the hands of the people who are not not assets to the state, but have come for the assets of the state.”
