DPR Seals 26 Petrol Stations In Ibadan

The Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, Ibadan Office said it has sealed about 26 petrol station for hoarding and price violation.

Sadiq Danjuma Ibrahim, Head of Operations disclosed this while speaking with newsmen during the routine operation of the organization to check the level of compliance of fuel dealers in Ibadan.

According to him, ” Government has not increased fuel price , we cannot allow marketer to be increasing the price arbitarily’ .

While warning recalcitrants filling stationa owners to desist from violating the laid down rules of operation Danjuma said erring filling stations can be reasealed if they fail to comply ” we are taking more drastic measure against erring filling stations, we are not only going seal their stations we will also sanction them, preventing them from operation for a period of 3 to 6 months and have their operation licence revoked.

Danjuma noted that the marketers always network among themselves to evade sanction whenever the operatives of DPR are out for monitoring .

While assuring that other areas in Oyo and Osun state will be covered in few weeks, Danjuma said todays operation is limited to Ibadan town and Oyo.

” We are still going to other places. we have visited them before and we will surely revisit them and make sure the erring stations comply’

At Olomi some motorists and motocylce riders who spoke with journalists during the operations lauds DPR for their efforts and urge them not to relent in their bid to make the fuel dealers comply with N145. per litre .

Saliu a motorcyclists said ‘ The petrol dealers here are wicked, they sell at 180, please let this excercise be continous and make sure the erring stations are sanctioned.
