In a statement issued on Thursday to mark Nigeria’s Democracy Day celebration, Chief Sanusi congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on the occasion, extending his greetings to the people of Oyo State and Nigerians at large.

The renowned philanthropist and business mogul praised the sacrifices and dedication of security personnel in their relentless efforts to maintain peace and security, describing their role as indispensable to the sustenance of democracy and national development.

Chief Sanusi expressed deep concern over the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government, urging the kidnappers to release the victims unharmed without delay.

He also appealed to security operatives to intensify rescue operations and ensure the safe return of those still in captivity, stressing that children and innocent citizens should not be subjected to such traumatic experiences.

The Ibadan high chief further sympathised with families who have lost loved ones to banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities across the country, praying that God would grant them the strength to bear their losses.

According to him, Democracy Day provides an opportunity for Nigerians to recommit themselves to the ideals of peace, security and national unity.

“As we commemorate Democracy Day, let us renew our collective commitment to peace, security and the protection of human lives. A secure society is the foundation upon which meaningful development can thrive,” he stated.

Chief Sanusi reaffirmed his support for all lawful efforts aimed at restoring peace and security in Oyo State and Nigeria, noting that sustainable development can only be achieved in an atmosphere of safety and stability.
