History was recorded at the Oyo state House of Assembly as Hon Debo Ogundoyin broke the jinx of being elected as the speaker for the legislative arms for the second term.
The 36 years old Son of the late business Mongul Chief Adeseun Ogundoyin is the first lawmaker in the history of Oyo state to lead the state Assembly two time consecutively.
Ogundoyin who was elected in 2018 to replace the late speaker of the Assembly Hon Micheal Adeyemo and he was re-elected in 2019 and because speaker.
He was re-elected again in 2023 and nominated again as speaker of the state Assembly alongside with his deputy Abiodun Fadeyi.
Ogundoyin in his acceptance speech said ‘this is not just significant for me and my family but an epoch making event in the history of legislation in Oyo state because this is the first time we are having a speaker elected for the two tume respectively.
He appreciated his collegues for their support and trust and promized not to betray the confidence reposed in him ,he also thanks Gov Seyi Makinde for his synergy and assured the executive arm of government of collaborations that will lead into having a better oyo state.
“Our dedication and purpose will be intensify, we shall continue to build on the foundation we have laid for a better Oyo state. We will roll up our sleeves for the task ahead.
Governor Makinde while proclaiming the house congratulates the lawmakers especially Debo Ogundoyin and Gbenga Fadeyi for emerging the speaker and deputy speakers
He however seeks their collaboration and support to move Oyo state forward
The speakers also announced Hon Sanjo Adedoyin as the Majority leader of the 1oth Assembly
