Davido’s Father Dr. Deji Adeleke Donates ₦100m to Boost Education in Ogbomoso

Businessman and philanthropist, Dr. Deji Adeleke, has donated the sum of ₦100 million to support the development of education in Ogbomosoland.

His pledge was announced by the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Adeleke University, Ede, Professor Luke Onuoha, during the inaugural Ogbomoso Education Summit.

Dr. Adeleke who said he was inspired by the monarch’s vision and commitment to educational advancement noted that he shares the Soun’s dream of promoting literacy, citing it as the inspiration behind the establishment of Adeleke University.

The summit, convened by the Soun’s Education Committee led by Prof. Olusegun Ajiboye, was designed to chart a new course for educational development in the city.

In his keynote address, Oba Olaoye emphasized that education remains the bedrock of human civilization and the key to breaking cycles of poverty. He called for a rethinking of Nigeria’s education system to meet 21st-century realities.

“The world around us is changing at a pace faster than ever before. Technology, innovation, and knowledge economies are redefining power and prosperity. Education must prepare our children not just to take jobs, but to create solutions,” the monarch said.

He further stressed the need to involve young people early in leadership, innovation, and governance, while urging government, institutions, and parents to embrace reforms that build thinkers, innovators, and leaders.

Other speakers, including former military governor of Oyo State, Major General Oladayo Popoola (rtd); Rector of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed; and Hon. Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, commended the initiative and made contributions to the education trust fund.
