Customs Oyo/Osun Command Generates N15.8bn

Oyo /Osun area command of Nigerian Customs Services NCS said it has generated a sum of N15,890, 489476.26 (Fifteen Billion Eight Hundred and Ninety Million Four Hundrer and Eighty Nine Thousand, Four Hundred and Seventy Five Naira Twenty six kobo between the month of February and April 2021.

The Command’s Controller Adamu Abdulkadir who disclosed this at a press briefing in Ibadan on Thursday said illegally imported items with duty pay values of N134, 477, 316 were also seized from the smugglers during the period.

The item seized includes, 3,311 (50kg) bags of foreign perboiled rice, 487(25litre) of PMS, 221 Cartor and 9 Sacks of Imported Fish, 9Sacks of Canabis Sativa, 6 bales of used shoes 138 (10) litre and 572(2.5) litres of vegetable oil, 21 bales of second hand clothings and 1 unit of used DAF truck

According to the controller, the officers in the command have been carrying out their enforcement and anti- smuggling activities with utmost professionalism, caution and intelligence gathering.

 

Adamu explained that the command has set up another proficient team codenamed “Excise Task Force” to corroborate the activities of the previously inagurated “Operation Fish Out” team to further enhance anti-smuggling capabilities by taking the battle to the smugglers den through tactical raids and interception smuggled items.

While urging the public to corperate with Nigerian customs services in the implementation of Government Fiscal Policies to help improve the Economic and socia welfare of the Nation Adamu cautioned against attack on custom officers while carrying out their legitimate duty.

” For those who are used to blocking or attacking our officers, preventing them from making required arrests and seizures in your communities, be reet assured that we shall fish you out and prosecute you under section 11 of the CEMA Cap C45 LFN 2004″
