The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Base in Koko-Basse Town, Kebbi State, was attacked by unknown gunmen over the weekend. The incident left one officer dead and another abducted.

According to the press statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Kebbi State Area Command, Salisu Suleiman Muhammad, the armed men targeted the officers in response to the recent boost in anti-smuggling activities in the area.

The statement revealed that the gunmen attacked the patrol base, destroying properties and then trailed and attacked two officers. Assistant Superintendent of Customs I Dabo Umar was killed, while Superintendent of Customs Babagana Abba Kabiru was abducted and is still being held by the abductors.

The Customs Area Controller, Iheanacho Ernest Ojike, has expressed condolences to the family of the deceased officer and has prayed for the release of the abducted officer. The Customs Service has also launched a manhunt for the killers and abductors.
