The Chairman House of Reps Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Value, Hon Segun Dokun Odebunmi has expressed optimism that the palliative measures announced by President Muhammadu Buhari in the areas with the highest number of cases will go along way in providing succour to the affected people
He also expressed
his appreciation at the way Nigerian Medical practitioners ,other critical stakeholders in the public health sector and also the Media has responded to the scourge of corona virus currently rampaging the world while similarly charging them not to relent in their efforts at sensitizing the general public on the need to obey the necessary preventive guildines in our fight against covid-19.
Hon Odebunmi, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress APC representing Surulere/Ogo Oluwa Federal constuency at the House of reps also advised Nigerians to comport themselves along the established preventive rules among which are staying indoors, social distancing and regular washing of hands. He noted that it is ethically easy to adhere to these messures than risk the chance of being infected by the dreaded disease because prevention is always better and cheaper than cure.
In a chat with journalist recently, the lawmaker opined that, “We do not expect this situation at this time but since it is here we have no alternative than to take necessary steps that will help us win the war against Corona Virus pandemic”
He stated further that “the Medical practitioners and the Media have been so effective in the discharge of their responsibility in this regard and they deserve to be commended and admonished so as not to relent in their effort”.
