Chief Emeka Offor foundation has donated equipment worth forty three million Naira to Ahmadu Ahmadu Bello University teaching hospital Zaria, in kaduna state.
At the occation chief Emeka Offor who was represented by his chief of staff retired Assistant inspector General of Police, Mr chris Eze noted that they decided to invest in the health sector at a time when the world is in desperate need of medical support following the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic.
He said the foundation has refurbished the Ahmadu bello university isolation centre with one hundred bed units including mattresses side drawers among other accessories.
Mr Offor further explained that they imported 14 containers of medical equipment each worth 150 million naira for onward distribution to health centres across the country.
Ina a remark, the chief medical director of the hospital, professor Ahmed Indagas expressed appreciation to the foundation stressing that the teaching hospital has recently discharged six patients form the makeshift isolation centre they were using earlier which was filled to capacity, emphasising that they were only able to accommodate the critically ill.
Professor indagas pointed out that the beds will ho along way in aiding their effort to tackle the disease.
In a remark the permanent secretary Kaduna state ministry of health, Mallam shuaibu Mahmoud said Ahmadu bello University teaching hospital has done a lot in supporting the state government in tackling the pandemic noting that 14 medical personnel have been infected in the state while fighting the desease and 7 of them were from the teaching hospital.
Mallam Shuaibu noted that the fight against Covid-19 is a collective effort by wealthy individuals and groups and the practice of hygiene and social distancing by the general population.
