Samuel Ladoke Akintola Foundation has announced the postponement of the memorial lecture, organized in honour of the late Premier of Western Region, Samuel Ladoke Akintola.
The annual event, which was scheduled to hold on Thursday, January 14, 2021 was expected to be graced by dignitaries from all walks of life, including President Muhamadu Buhari, Senator Rasidi Ladoja, Governor Seyi Makinde and governors from other states, among others.
Mr Yemi Adedokun, the coordinator of the foundation, said the development is regretted but necessary to prevent further spread of COVID-19, which is ravaging the world now.
Adedokun in a statement made available to Journalists in Ibadan said, “though all arrangements to have an elaborate outing have been put in place but it has to postponed because of respect for the sanctity of human life.
“Over the years the annual event, organized to celebrate the late sage is always overwhelmed with crowd and we believe this year will not experience less, especially when the political ideology of Ladoke Akintola now forms a template for political development and governance in Nigeria.
“The family and members of Akintola Foundation, however, concluded that the annual lecture for this year be postponed while other activities of the foundation continues
“A new date will be communicate to the public and invited guest as soon as it is safe to do. Adedokun concluded
