A Federal High Court, sitting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Wednesday, halted the conduct of the planned local government election in the state.

Efforts by the The State Independent Electorial Commission SIEC  to conduct election into  local government and LCDA’s  May 12  is  already  at the peak

Though details of the juddgement is still sketchy as at the time of filling this report  but it was gathered that the court stopped the poll after it delivered its ruling in a case instituted by some leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress  (APC) in Ibarapa East local government  over the creation of Wards.

It would be recalled that  some baales in Oyo West, Atiba and Oyo East local governments sought an order restraining the commission from conducting the planned election in 2017  pending the determination of the case which eventually led to shifting the date of the election from February 21 to May 2018
