Court arraigns man for keeping corpse in his apartment in Ibadan

A 45year-old man, John Ekundayo,  on Monday appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrate Court in Ibadan for abandoning a dead human body in his apartment.
The accused who was arraigned on one count charge with charge No. MI/323c/2017 is accused of improper or indecent interference with the dignity of the deceased by abandoning her in a room instead of burying her.
The prosecutor, Inspector Ogunremi Sunday told the court that the accused committed the crime on the 28th of February 2017 at about 0630hrs at NW2/403 Okebiyi compound Idi-kan, Ibadan
He said the offence contravene sections 242(1)(b) Criminal Code Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A. F. Richard granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties.
The judge however said that one of the sureties has to be the accused blood relative in possession of a National Identification Card (National ID card) and the second surety should be atleast a level nine (9) officer in the civil service.
He adjourned the case till April 19, 2017 for further hearing
