Archbishop of Ibadan Archdiocese President, Most Rev. Gabriel ‘Leke Abegunrin has been celebrated for his selfless services to the Catholic Church, Oyo State and Nigeria at Large.
In a message delivered by Rev.Fr Richard Omolade on behalf of the Catholic Archiodece of Ibadan at a press conference held at St Gabriel Catholic Church Mokola Ibadan Bishop Abegunrin was also said to have been excellent in providing good and quality leadership in this regards.
Speaking further on the attributes of the Archbishop, Omolade said “His Grace has been a hardworking, punctual, patient, humble, enduring, encouraging, truthful, observant, lover of the youths and a great role model, to mention but a few.
“As a matter of fact, His Grace’s tenure as the Archbishop of Ibadan has witnessed tremendous growth at Parish, Deanery, Archdiocesan and Provincial levels.
“As he celebrates his 75th birthday, His Grace will be happy to see this desire fulfilled in no distant time.”
The revered clergy who will be 75 years on September 29 was installed as the Archbishop of Ibadan diocese on January 25, 2014
Responding to questions from Journalists Most Rev Abegunrin expressed his discontentment for the deteriorating situations in all sectors and call form improvement and change of attitudes towards making Nigeria a better country.
He harped on the need for those at the helms of affairs to provide quality leadership and protect their rights to enjoy good live.
On the journey so far as the archbishop of Ibadan Diocese, Most Rev Abegunrin hinted that though there are some challenges but God has been faithful to the church and his tenure have been able to record landmark achievements in eleve years .
While speaking on the efforts made on the return of school to the missionaries, Bishop Abegunrin said ” Efforts to see Governor Seyi Makinde in the last six year has not been fruitful, myself and Bishop of oyo Diocese have tried several times to see him but he is not accessible, and what we want to see him for is on education, we met with late Governor Ajimobi and we agreed on certain things but unfortunately he lost the election before he eventually died, we are ready to havd our school back so that we can provide affordable and quality education to our children
When asked for his position on the fuel price and the role of NNPCL is playing in fixing the price the Clergy said FG should intervene and let Dangote fixes his price and sell to Nigerians
