Veteran Yoruba Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has died after battling cancer.
Ogogo reportedly died on Sunday afternoon, August 23, 2026, while undergoing treatment for the ailment.
A colleague of the veteran actor, who confirmed the development to Insight, said he received the shocking news only a few minutes before speaking with the medium.
“Yes I received the cal few minutes ago I am broken” he said
The death comes days after the actor’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, publicly appealed for urgent medical assistance for their father, revealing that he was battling stage-four cancer.
The family had earlier dismissed reports of his death on August 18, describing them as false, as the actor continued to receive medical attention at the time.
Ogogo was one of the prominent figures in the Yoruba film industry, with a career spanning several decades as an actor, producer, director and screenwriter.
He featured in numerous Yoruba and English-language productions, earning widespread recognition for his distinctive acting style and memorable roles.
