President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the renaming of the University of Maiduguri to Muhammadu Buhari University in honour of his late predecessor.
The announcement was made during a special Federal Executive Council (FEC) session held to pay tribute to former President Muhammadu Buhari, who recently passed away.
According to a statement issued by the. President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the gesture is a mark of respect and recognition for Buhari’s contributions to national development, particularly in the areas of education, security, and public service.
The renaming comes as part of ongoing national mourning and memorials honouring the former president.
