The Oyo political landscape has been plunged into mourning following the death of Hon. Chief Ayoola Makanjuola Joe, widely known as Makenson, a veteran Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) politician and former Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Oyo State.

Makenson, who also served as Executive Chairman of Atisbo Local Government and was a respected community leader — holding the traditional titles of Bobagunwa Aare of Ofiki Land and Odofin of Ago-Are — passed away on Friday evening.

His death was confirmed by community sources and political associates.

Born in Ago-Are, Makenson rose to prominence in both traditional and political spheres.

Leaders from the Ago-Are community and the wider Oke-Ogun region have expressed deep sorrow at his passing, describing it as a significant loss to both grassroots politics and public administration.
