The Muslim community in Ibadan and across Oyo State is in mourning following the death of Chief Lamidi Ajadi, the Baba Adinni of Ibadanland. He passed away earlier today, marking the end of an era for the city’s Islamic and civic leadership.

Chief Ajadi, a respected elder and spiritual leader, was renowned for his unwavering commitment to the growth of Islam and the unity of the Muslim ummah in the region. As Baba Adinni, he held the highest honorary Islamic title in Ibadanland, a position of immense religious and cultural significance.

He was also the proprietor of the popular SABLAK Event Centre, a landmark venue that played host to major religious, social, and community events in Ibadan.

Sources close to the family confirmed that the revered leader passed on peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday. His death has sent shockwaves through the city, with tributes already pouring in from clerics, traditional rulers, political leaders, and members of the public.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced shortly and will be conducted according to Islamic rites.

May his soul rest in perfect peace.
