The leadership of Boye Nation Movement has dismissed rumours that its leader, Hon. Ajiboye Akande Sangogade, popularly known as Boye Nation, has defected or plans to return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), reaffirming his loyalty to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
The movement said the rumours followed a recent meeting between Sangogade and Barr. Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, stressing that the encounter was purely social and had no political implications.
In a statement issued on Friday and signed by its spokesperson, Amb. Omiyale Ademola, the movement described the reports circulating on social media and in some political quarters as baseless.
It maintained that Sangogade remained a bona fide and committed member of the APM, insisting that he had no intention of returning to the APC.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the recent meeting between Hon. Sangogade and Barr. Seyi Tinubu, the son of Mr. President, was purely a social interaction rooted in long-standing personal friendship,” the statement said.
According to the movement, Sangogade and Seyi Tinubu have maintained a close personal relationship for years, adding that honouring an invitation from a friend should not be interpreted as a political realignment or defection.
The group urged the people of Oyo State, party members and supporters across the country to disregard the reports, which it attributed to mischief-makers seeking to create unnecessary political distractions.
It further stated that Sangogade remained focused on strengthening the APM and working towards the party’s success, alongside its candidates, in the forthcoming elections.
“APM remains the party for the people, and we stand resolute,” the statement added.
