The Chairman, Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission , Mr. Jide Ajeigbe has charged all the Electoral Officers and their Assistants to be conscious of their rapport with politicians in the discharge of their duties
Ajeigbe gave this warning at the official inauguration of Forum of Oyo State Independent Electoral Officers (FOYSIEC) held at the Conference Room of the Commission, Agodi Ibadan.
The Chairman according to a statement signed by Cosmos Oni ,OYSIEC information officer tasked them to carry out their operation under the ambits of the electoral law and avoid anything that will tarnished their names.
While commending their efforts at the success of the last local government election in the state which went out peacefully, unlike other states where there are violence and burning of houses, however, called on them to be open to one another and work as a team for the progress of the forum.
Earlier on, in his welcome address, the Convener of the programme, Rev. Olubunmi Adeleye Thomas says part of the mission of the forum is to assist government in grass-root of electioneering and mobilization of the masses as well as to promote and encourage the integrity of unbiased electoral umpire for the sustainability of Democracy in Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
The forum later elected Comrade Dauda Oloyede, Electoral Officer of Ibarapa East as the Coordinator and Chairman of the forum, who later called for the cooperation of all the members.
Other officers elected are Deacon Ogunbiyi Job. As Deputy Chairman from Olorunsogo, Secretary , Thomas Olubunmi, Egbeda while his assistant is Mary Aderemi of Ibadan North.
Messrs Moshood Taoreed as Treasurer from Oyo West, Raheem Kolawole from Iseyin while PRO was zoned to Ogbomoso.
