Following a protest by visually impaired students over welfare and poor feeding arrangements, The chairman Local Government Service Commission Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole better known as Wolekanle has intervened to restore calm at the Blind Centre.
The protest, which began on Monday, was reportedly driven by concerns about inadequate welfare and the deteriorating state of basic facilities, including faulty doors and lack of access to clean water.
In response, Bashorun Wolekanle whose delegate visited the school assured the students of immediate action, pledging to fix the damaged doors, restore the borehole system, and ensure consistent support for their needs.
He also promise to reach out to the appropriate authority in the state for immediate intervention.
His intervention was met with relief and appreciation from the students, who subsequently agreed to suspend the protest in honour of his gesture.
Recall that in 2023, Wolekanle, the ogbomoso born philanthropist donated a bus to the centre and installed solar-powered lights across the premises to improve security and mobility at night.
The students expressed gratitude for his continued commitment, describing him as a dependable ally and advocate for their wellbeing.
