The Babaloja General of Oyo State, Asiwaju Yekeen Abass, has led the Babaloja-in-Council and market leaders from the 33 local government areas of the state on a solidarity visit to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi, pledging their support for his 2027 governorship bid.
The delegation visited the APM Campaign Office in the Increments area of Ibadan, where market leaders representing the state’s seven geopolitical zones also presented their demands and expectations to the party’s governorship candidate.
Addressing the gathering, the Babaloja General, represented by Mogaji Kamorudeen Salawudeen, declared that market leaders across the state were firmly behind Adekanmbi’s candidature.
He said the association believed that continuity in governance was essential to sustaining commerce and driving economic prosperity across Oyo State.
According to him, the peaceful business environment created by the current administration should be preserved to enable traders and artisans to continue to thrive.
Responding, Adekanmbi expressed appreciation for the visit and the endorsement, describing himself as someone who understands the challenges facing traders, having grown up as the son of a prominent trader in Bodija Market.
He assured the delegation that his administration would prioritise the welfare of market men and women while consolidating on the peaceful atmosphere established by Governor Seyi Makinde over the past seven years.
The APM governorship candidate urged the visitors to mobilise support for the party across the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He called on traders and artisans to vote for all APM candidates, from the presidency to other elective positions, stressing that peace and stability remained the foundation for business growth and economic development.
Adekanmbi maintained that only a peaceful environment could guarantee increased commercial activities and sustainable prosperity for the people of Oyo State.
The visit concluded with the presentation of gifts to the APM governorship candidate by the market leaders and artisans as a symbol of their solidarity and support.
