The South-West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA) group on Friday insisted that
Presidential Candidate of All Progressives Congress’ APC .
must be allowed to test their popularity at the party’s primaries.
The pro Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s group said it will not agree to a consensus arrangement for the selection of the ’ presidential candidate.
SWAGA chairman, Sen. Dayo Adeyeye said this while speaking with the media after purchasing N100m presidential nomination form for Bola Tinubu
A House of Representatives member from Ikeja Federal Constituency, James Faleke; a member representing Agege Federal Constituency in the green chamber, Babatunde Adejare; a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal were among those who picked the form on behalf of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Adeyeye recently boosted that in the Southwest, the former Lagos State governor is enjoying nothing less than 70-80 per cent support of the registered voters.
“In the Southwest, if the elections come up today, we can get nothing less than 14 million votes from the region. And I don’t think there is any other candidate who can command such kind of votes from his geopolitical zone. And I have already factored in voter apathy. If you can look at the voter’s register in the region, it is almost double of that figure. When I said 14 million votes, I am saying that with all sense of responsibility without any iota of doubt,” he said.
Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State, is one of many aspirants seeking to fly the APC’s flag for the 2023 presidential election.
Other candidates include the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi. Kogi state Governor ,Yahaya Bello
SWAGA was officially launched in October while Tinubu himself was recuperating in the United Kingdom
